Manage Your Weight Easily
Many people believe that losing weight is all about harnessing our willpower to eat less and exercise more. In fact the more we restrict ourselves the more we desire the food.
This focus on food often makes us feel hungrier and the body goes into famine mode. My maxim is to eat anything you fancy in moderation because otherwise it becomes a forbidden fruit and the body feels deprived.
However, it is important to listen to the body and only eat when hungry (not as a way to deal with emotional triggers, boredom etc).
Water plays an important part in our diet because often we think we are hungry when in fact its our body craving water (after all we are made up of more than 70% water) so it's a good idea to drink water at the first signs of hunger.
For most people there is an unconscious reason why they've been unable to lose weight and until that issue has been dealt with then no matter how hard we try with willpower, the weight will either not reduce or will return again (often with added extra). Some of the things we say to ourselves programme our unconscious mind to retain the excess weight, because it believes what we think and say. That's when it's important to have therapy so that together we can discover the underlying reasons for the excess weight.
Self-loathing talk can be harming your efforts and send you spiralling into an unhealthy cycle before you know it. "I'll never lose weight. Look at this cellulite! This jelly-belly will never go down." The self-sabotaging talk often results in comfort eating or snacking. This in turn leads to weight gain, more self-degrading talk, then to overcome this more comfort food to quiet the negative thoughts. It's a psychological cycle.
Another aspect of weight is the craving for certain food or drinks. Have you ever found anything that takes away your cravings for junk food? The best defence is a good offence and EFT is a great tool to help you keep control when they occur. Cravings are often a result of our emotions, anxiety or stress. Our bodies can often crave high sugar and high fat foods in an attempt to "medicate" ourselves into a calmer state when we are avoiding our emotions or under a lot of stress.
When we are in these emotional or stressful states, our body's' energy flow may be blocked or reversed. Cravings may also happen when the body's putting out too little insulin to control the dizzying blood sugar drop from not eating enough. This is also a very good reason why it's essential to not skip breakfast: it tends to keep the cravings at bay and gives rise to the body's actual legitimate cravings. Yes, legitimate cravings. This means the body's salt or sugar levels are down and need recharging . but just a bit to bridge you over to the next snack or for lunch.
